We are sad to report the passing of Hjalmar Fond of Seaford, VA.  Hjalmar was a certified referee for many years in our referee program and had held emeritus status since 2004.  He was also a certified assignor.  His wife, Cathy, as well as his children, were trained and certified as referees in our program with his daughter, Ryanne, named as our Young Female Referee of the Year in 2003.  Hjalmar was also a member of the board of Penisula Soccer Officials Association.

Visitation will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home located at 11144 Warwick Blvd in Newport News on Saturday, May 31, from 3:00 PM until 5:30 PM.   A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home at 1:00 PM on Sunday, June 1.  Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughter, P.O. Box 2156, Norfolk, VA 23501.
